The House in the Woods property was sold by the City in September of 2022. There were two final bidders for the property. One bidder was looking to develop two to four homes on the property and offered $150,000, while the other planned to maintain the property as green space and offered $155,000. With respect to the financial sale of property, the City Charter specifically states, “Sales shall be made to the bidder whose bid is most advantageous to the City.” Despite the annual tax revenue of approximately $35,000 for the City, schools and county that would have been gained every year from the development of housing, Ms. Miller voted for the green space offer, thus violating the City Charter that she swore an oath to uphold.
