Ms. Miller fails to realize that she represents all Lathrup Village residents and not just the ones that agree with her. There are many examples of this behavior, but a few notable ones stand out.
On April 19, 2022, a resident with children in the Southfield Public School system had some questions and concerns and contacted Ms. Miller, as she is the Council liaison with the school system. Ms. Miller failed to answer the resident’s questions, ranted about an issue that the resident did not inquire about, and insulted the resident. The resident responded, indicating she found Ms. Miller’s response offensive and again politely posed her questions. Ms. Miller again responded without addressing the resident’s concerns. Additionally, for some unknown reason, Ms. Miller bizarrely provided her job history and then ranted about the way other people had treated her. At no time in the conversation did she address any of the resident’s concerns. Click here to see this text thread.
Ms. Miller regularly uses social media to vent and talk about issues that are being deliberated upon by City Council. The City Attorney has repeatedly advised Ms. Miller and Council not to participate on social media when City matters are being discussed. Such participation could not only put Council members and the City at risk of violating the Open Meetings Act, but could also expose the City to liability for not having archived all comments made on these social media sites. Ms. Miller regularly ignores this directive (e.g., when she bullied residents who displayed lawn signs that disagreed with her position and identified these residents on Facebook. This is hypocritical for someone who ran for office promoting transparency. To see video of public comment made at a Council meeting regarding this issue, click here.
In a final example, a resident attempted to have civil discourse via email with Ms. Miller regarding various City issues. Ms. Miller responded to the resident with comments such as, “Enough of your bullshit” and “You obviously have other City council members that you can reach out to.” Further, she went on to say, “My focus is on happy residents,” which further emphasizes her lack of understanding that she supports ALL residents, not just those that support her or who are happy.
