Ms. Miller led the opposition to the 2019 road millage.
Prior to her tenure on City Council, Ms. Miller proudly led the effort to defeat the 2019 millage that would have repaved ALL residential roads in the City. On multiple occasions, she boasted about being the person responsible for defeating that millage. She also attempted to defeat the subsequent scaled back road millage proposal in 2020 (which provided for more than 8 miles of repaving), but she failed in that effort.
Ms. Miller continued to oppose road improvements while on City Council.
Since she was seated on Council, she voted NO on all important road related votes. Those votes were:
January 24, 2022 (Item 9b): Voted against the road recommendation and road selection for the summer 2022 project.
February 28, 2022 (Item 8b): Voted against the expenditure for the summer 2022 road construction project.
September 26, 2022 (Item 9d): Voted against the special assessment district to pave Eldorado Place.
March 6, 2023: (Item 10d) Voted against awarding the 2023 road construction contract to Allied Construction.
June 5, 2023 (Item 6c): Voted against approving and accepting a $24,614 road grant from Oakland County.
Ms. Miller filed a lawsuit against the city in a failed attempt to stop the road improvement work that voters approved.
On February 28, 2022, Ms. Miller was the sole Councilmember to vote against approval of the 2022 summer road project. Angered by the outcome, she subsequently filed a lawsuit against the City of Lathrup Village in Oakland County Circuit Court in an attempt to halt the summer road project. Ms. Miller’s Complaint contained numerous baseless conspiracy theories, prompting the judge to “strongly recommend” Ms. Miller withdraw her case, which she eventually did. However, her frivolous lawsuit needlessly wasted taxpayer money, as the City had to pay its attorneys to defend the case.
Ms. Miller finally voted YES on a road improvement . . . to pave her OWN street!
Ms. Miller’s only “YES” vote on a road issue occurred during a special vote on June 12, 2023 (Item 6b), when she voted to pave her OWN street with extra millage funds. After playing a large part in defeating the first road millage to repave all streets in the City, and then voting against every other road project since being on Council, she voted YES to repave her own road!
If your road was not paved as part of the road millage project, Ms. Miller is at least partially to blame for that.
