Prior to the November 2021 election (when Ms. Miller won her Council seat), Ms. Miller accused both the City and fellow candidates of violating election law. Ms. Miller repeatedly challenged the City Attorney’s opinion that no election laws were violated and would not cease with her accusations. As a result of her continued accusations, the prior City Council was forced to hire an independent outside legal firm that specializes in election law to issue its opinion on the matter. That opinion (see page 6) agreed with the City Attorney’s opinion, and the City was charged $23,000 for the outside legal firm’s opinion. This figure was eventually negotiated down to $18,000, not including the legal fees charged by the City Attorney. This is one of many examples of Ms. Miller receiving an answer she does not like but continuing to repeatedly push for a different result that fits her narrative at the expense of the taxpayers.
